More Than Words

This past Tuesday, board member and expert contributor Julia Fillnow and I had a great conversation about some of the topics in our interview for the Safe to Hope podcast next Tuesday (Feb 11) with Wade Mullen. We talked about language and the differences between kingdom language (truth) and branding language (deception). The former is bent toward those who’ve been harmed, while the latter toward an institution’s reputation. We also acknowledged how hard it might be to discern between the two, and how the spiritualization used in branding language creates a “hook” that can draw you in just far enough to believe you might be heard. To believe you might be cared for.

Today, Julia and I pick up on other aspects of the uses (and abuses!) of language and discuss that it matters how words are defined (and by whom) in your circumstances, whether a context can be safe for your words, and ultimately whose perspective (words) will have authority.
